Anyone out there remember “hanging chads”? It is very interesting to observe that this spectacularly ill-designed ballot paper is causing serious headaches in deciphering the electorate’s intentions. I have always thought that the standard ballot paper could benefit from the application of some good old Information Design thinking. Whomever is responsible for this two-column version is falling well short of the mark (and never studied the literature on Bush/Gore).
